Commission: Award Winning Sultans' Wives Portraits

In 2010, Annie had the unique opportunity to create a series of 45 portraits for Hotel Sultania, a Boutique-Class Hotel nestled in the historical heart of Istanbul.

This commission, dedicated to portraying the wives of the sultans, became one of the most meaningful projects of her career.

The task was as challenging as it was inspiring—she had six months to complete all 45 pieces and frame them specially for display. To truly capture the essence of these remarkable women, she immersed herself in their lives, reading their biographies and aiming to reflect their strength, grace, and stories on their faces.

Through her art, she wanted each guest at the hotel to feel a connection to the history and character of these sultanas.

Today, the portraits hang proudly in Hotel Sultania, welcoming visitors worldwide and telling their timeless stories.

Hotel Sultania has been receiving "TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice Awards" every year since 2010; Annie has been honored to have contributed to its story and unique charm through her work.
